This month I focus most of my attention on Rubies, July's most celebrated birthstone, while also adding a taste of Strawberry Quartz's refreshingly soothing energy.
Rubies are one of the most sought-after, rich and precious gemstones. Their intense colors emit a strong, confident, fiery energy that stimulates action. While I was working on making these pieces, I had a hard time sitting still as my body kept itching to get up and move around.
After researching different sources for the metaphysical properties and history of rubies, I came to the conclusion that the keyword "courage" resonated most with my most authentic intention for creating these ruby designs.
The Strawberry Quartz, on the other hand, gave off a much more subtle, loving & caring energy. Comparable to rose quartz's energy, strawberry quartz helps to energetically nourish us with unconditional self-love and self-worth; thus also emitting a calming and de-stressing vibe.
As with all Gemstone Signature Designs, not only do the stones carry their own unique energy and vibration, but also as the maker, my intentions and the energy I hold while creating them is just as important. It is my sincerest wish for my jewelry to serve you for the highest good, and to accomplish this I am very conscious about what I name my designs. The name itself will carry an energy to help you remember why you chose to wear it. As you carry on about your day you will gaze upon and cherish your jewelry. Over time, your conscious and subconscious mind will absorb the intention and energy to elevate you.
Strawberry Fun Facts
- Legend has it that if you break a double strawberry in half and share it with a member of the opposite sex, you will fall in love with each other.
- The strawberry was a symbol for Venus, the Goddess of Love, because of its heart shapes and red color.
- Queen Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII had a strawberry shaped birthmark on her neck, which some claimed proved she was a witch.
- To symbolize perfection and righteousness, medieval stone masons carved strawberry designs on altars and around the tops of pillars in churches and cathedrals.
- The strawberry, a member of the rose family, is unique in that it is the only fruit with seeds on the outside rather than the inside. Many medicinal uses were claimed for the wild strawberry, its leaves and root.
- The ancient Romans believed that the berries alleviated symptoms of melancholy, fainting, all inflammations, fevers, throat infections, kidney stones, halitosis, attacks of gout, and diseases of the blood, liver and spleen.

Strawberry Quartz Origins & Regionality
It is reassuring to note that 12% of the Earth’s crust is made of the Quartz mineral. By this Calculation, it is easy to come to the Conclusion that it will be available to mankind for Quite some time.
Strawberry Quartz can be classified as ‘rare’ and its deep Pink Color can be attributed to the Iron Oxide inclusions in it. Confusing it with Rose Quartz is common but it is important to note that Rose Quartz is made of Silicon Dioxide and the Tiny inclusions of pink fibers are known as dumortierite.
Mainly found in Mexico and Africa, this Naturally-occurring Gemstone can be found in Light Pink, Strawberry Pink or a Raspberry Pink color. Other countries in which it is found are Brazil, Russia and Kazakhstan.

Ruby History & Lore
Ruby is one of the most historically significant colored stones. Rubies are mentioned four times in the Bible, in association with attributes like beauty and wisdom. In the ancient language of Sanskrit, ruby is called ratnaraj, or “king of precious stones.”
In the first century AD, the Roman scholar Pliny included rubies in his Natural History, describing their hardness and density. Ancient Hindus believed that those who offered fine rubies to the god Krishna were granted rebirth as emperors.
Hindus divided ruby into four castes, calling the true Oriental ruby a Brahmin. Someone in possession of a Brahmin was believed to have the advantage of perfect safety.
Ruby has accumulated a host of legends over the centuries. People in India believed that rubies enabled their owners to live in peace with their enemies. In Burma (a ruby source since at least 600 AD—now called Myanmar), warriors possessed rubies to make them invincible in battle. However, it wasn’t enough to just wear the rubies. They had to insert them into their flesh and make them part of their bodies.
The name ruby comes from the Latin word ruber, which means “red.” The glowing red of ruby suggested an inextinguishable flame burning in the stone, even shining through clothing and able to boil water.
Ruby has been called the most precious of the 12 stones created by God.
Ruby retained its importance with the birth of the western world and became one of the most sought-after gems of European royalty and the upper classes. Many medieval Europeans wore rubies to guarantee health, wealth, wisdom, and success in love.

Ruby Origins & Regionality
India was classically regarded as the Ruby’s country of origin for more than two thousand years. Recently, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Afghanistan have exposed substantial Ruby deposits. In Southeast Asia, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam have also been long regarded as sources of fine Rubies. Over the last half-century, Rubies have been discovered in East Africa and Madagascar. The United States holds two small deposits in North Carolina and Montana.

Strawberry Quartz is one of the rarest form of quartz and certainly not easy to find in my quality standards!
There's something magical about these gemstones. Similar to the loving energy of rose quartz, strawberry quartz is supports unconditional self-love, self-worth and eases feelings of anxiety. It's calming and soothing vibes is nicely balanced with an encouraging energy to fulfill one's most authentic desires.
