I heard a quote in a movie, that has stuck with me and was the inspiration behind my line of skulls. It goes, "without a constant reminder of death, one can never truly live freely." The quote was mentioned while explaining why, during the 15th century, many scholars kept a human skull on their desk. We've all seen the illustrations in old books and portrayals in movies of the human skulls on desks, but I never questioned why. But this made much sense to me.
To me, this was the inspiration I needed to start a line of jewelry with skulls for this very same reason - to remind us of our mortality and to make decisions in our day-to-day lives that reflect thee fact that we have, currently, this one lifetime to achieve our goals and dreams. This is why skulls in general are so important to me. It's a pleasant reminder to take necessary pauses throughout my day to reflect upon what I should do differently while keeping this in mind.
